RapidShare is not fined
Court of Hamburg did not penalize German RapidShare file hosting for 24 million euros. This amount was only evaluated pirated music tracks featured on the service and become a cause of action by the organization GEMA. Lenta.ru reported with reference to TorrentFreak.
First TorrentFreak reported that the court fined RapidShare. However, later published a rebuttal of the publication, which describes the permitted error.
Court acknowledged hosting RapidShare held responsible for the content on its servers and need to remove five thousand music tracks that violate copyrights. In addition, the court ordered the RapidShare does not allow re-download these tracks and test the legality of all files downloaded by users.
GEMA is a German organization for collecting royalties. It represents the interests of 60 thousand composers, authors and record labels.
